Types of Dumbbell Sets

Urethane-Coated

A urethane shell over the cast core resists chipping better than rubber against repeated floor drops, and it's quieter to rerack.

Hex

The six-sided head keeps the dumbbell from rolling when set down, which is why hex is the standard shape on most commercial floors.

Chrome

A solid chrome finish with no rubber or urethane coating. The classic look for a free-weight room, though it's louder on the rerack than a coated set.

Gold-Plated

A gold-plated finish for studios that want a set that stands out on the floor. Functionally similar to a chrome set, dressed differently.

  • General commercial floors: hex is the safe default. It's the shape most members expect and it won't roll off a rack.
  • Studios prioritizing quiet, low-impact floors: urethane holds up to daily drops with less noise than chrome.
  • Confirm the rack before you buy: our Chrome 55-150 set ships rack-not-included, while the rest of the lineup includes a matching rack.
  • New vs. refurbished: this collection is entirely new right now. If refurbished dumbbells would work for your build-out, contact us and we'll check current availability.
