Recumbent Bikes

Recumbent bikes trade the standing pedal position of an upright for a reclined seat with back support, which takes pressure off the lower back and makes getting on and off easier for a lot of members. Our lineup covers a standard recumbent format, a hybrid model that converts between upright and recumbent, and an ADA-accessible recumbent stepper. Every recumbent bike currently in stock comes from Matrix Fitness, Cybex, Star Trac, Precor, or SCIFIT, and each is a professionally refurbished unit, cleaned, inspected, and tested before it ships.

Types of Recumbent Bikes

Standard Recumbent Bike

A reclined seat with back support takes pressure off the lower back. It's the most common format for longer, steady-state cardio sessions.

Hybrid Bike

Converts between an upright and a recumbent position depending on how a member sets it up. Useful for facilities that want both formats without dedicating floor space to two machines.

Recumbent Stepper

A seated stepping motion instead of a pedal stroke. Our SCIFIT model has a seat that slides, swivels, reclines, and removes entirely for direct wheelchair transfer.

Buying Considerations

  • Rehab, senior programming, or PT floors: the reclined seat and back support reduce lower-back strain compared to an upright bike.
  • Facilities short on space: a hybrid bike covers two seating positions without buying two separate machines.
  • ADA compliance requirements: a recumbent stepper with a removable, sliding seat supports direct wheelchair transfer, which a standard recumbent frame isn't built for.
  • New vs. refurbished: our current recumbent bike lineup is entirely refurbished. Check seat rail travel, pivot wear, and console calibration closely. Every unit is cleaned, inspected, and tested before it ships, and we can source a new recumbent bike on request.
