Collection: Shoulder Press Machines

Shoulder press machines give members a controlled, spotter-free way to build the deltoids. They load the shoulder joint less than a free-weight overhead press. Our lineup covers linear, power/wide-grip, and cable shoulder press machines. We carry Premier Strength, Cybex, Nautilus, and FreeMotion, new and refurbished.

Types of Shoulder Press Machines

1

Linear / Pin-Select Shoulder Press

The commercial default. It has a straightforward pressing path and fast weight changes between members.

2

Power / Wide-Grip Shoulder Press

A wider handle position shifts more load onto the front and side deltoids.

3

Cable Shoulder Press

Constant cable tension through the full range. Often mounted on a functional-trainer frame.

Which Type Fits Your Floor?

Type. Best For. Footprint. Resistance. Example in Our Lineup.
Linear / Pin-Select. High member turnover, easy adjustment. Standard footprint. Pin-select. Premier Strength Bravo Series Linear Shoulder Press.
Power / Wide-Grip. Front/side delt emphasis. Standard footprint. Pin-select. Premier Strength Bravo Series Power Shoulder Press.
Cable. Constant tension, functional-trainer floors. Frame-mounted footprint. Weight stack (cable). FreeMotion Cable Shoulder Press.

Buying Considerations

  • High-turnover commercial floors: a linear pin-select unit is fastest for members to adjust and set up.
  • Functional-training floors: a cable shoulder press on a dual-adjustable frame also handles other pressing and pulling moves.
  • Shoulder-conscious members: machine pressing is generally easier on the joint than a free-weight overhead press. That is a good talking point when members ask why to use it.
  • New vs. refurbished: check pivot points and upholstery wear on refurbished units. All units are inspected and tested before shipping.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a shoulder press machine safer than a free-weight overhead press?

For most members, yes: the fixed path removes the stabilization demand and spotter requirement that make free-weight overhead pressing riskier for beginners or shoulder-conscious lifters.

What's the difference between a linear and a power/wide-grip shoulder press?

A linear machine uses a standard shoulder-width handle path. A power/wide-grip version widens the handle position, which shifts more emphasis onto the front and side deltoids.

Do I need a cable shoulder press if I already have a plate-loaded one?

Not required, but a cable version on a functional-trainer frame adds constant tension through the range and can double as other pressing and pulling exercises on the same station, useful for space-limited floors.

New or refurbished shoulder press: does it matter?

Pivot points and upholstery are the main wear areas on this equipment type. We check both closely and test every refurbished unit before it ships.
